This is way off. Emory is ranked #24 and Vanderbilt #18 and Rice #17. They are all very closely ranked/same level/tier. Meanwhile Lehigh, Rochester, and Wake are all ranked #47. No, rankings aren’t everything but if you look at other numbers like stats for incoming students and outcomes for grads, Emory is a peer w Rice and Vanderbilt, and Lehigh, Rochester, and Wake are several levels/tiers below them.[/quote]

I think these are all good schools so rankings don’t matter that much. You can get a great education and have good post grad options at any of these places. However, it’s also stupid to claim that they’re all the same in terms of numbers, which is what rankings are based on.[/quote]

That’s fine but it is also true that there is more prestige attached to higher ranked schools and higher ranked schools will (typically) therefore open more doors bc employers and others you encounter [i]know[/i] they are great schools whereas a lesser known school could give you a great education but if people have never heard of the school, it’s not as helpful for post grad options.

Generally, yes, but Princeton has been number 1 for years in USNWR and it is not more prestigious than Harvard (or Stanford, MIT, and Yale).[/quote]
