No gut. Liked both. Pros cons of each but both great and likes the kids and vibe. He's a chill easygoing kid so doesn't feel strongly about weather and fits in anywhere. [/quote]

I ageee it's odd.  But I think it's not too hard at all to get in and you can always try again.  It's more of if you will get the major you want. Wisconsin does let some in direct admit and it's half the size so it's harder.   They also only give you one chance.  Econ is in the business school at UGA [/quote]

I agree there is a strong anti-South bias on DCUM. But there tends to be a fairly strong anti-Midwest/anti-any “flyover country” bias as well. Historically Wisconsin has been much more well regarded than UGA. Even though UGA has climbed in the rankings in recent years, many older people (ie, parents and grandparents of college age kids) will not know that UGA is now well regarded too but will still think of Wisconsin as a great school. How much will it/would it bother your kid/does it matter what people think? He’ll be able to get a great education and have a great college experience at either school and most employers who are hiring recent college grads will know a bit more than the general population about college reputations. Plus his grades and accolades in college will matter more than where he went anyway. so what does it really matter? [/quote]

Wisco’s rep has peaked along with the population of the Midwest. Go with the college that will only become more exclusive over the kid’s career, which is clearly UGA. [/quote]

You're kidding yourself if you think the Midwest is going to be able to keep up with the South over the next 40+ years. Atlanta will be a much better city for jobs and a UGA degree in Atlanta is like a UVA degree in DC. [/quote]

The south will do well, but not necessarily Georgia.  The leaders will be Florida, Arizona, Texas, etc.[/quote]
