I know that my opinion is very unpopular, especially in this area, but I think this was a good move.  The more we start focusing on an individual's merit (rather than their skin color and sexual orientation), the more the quality of the student body will improve.  Also, even with the dismissal of the DEI staff, it's not like there will not be supportive organizations on campus for various groups.  It's just means that the school wants to allocate its resources towards research and other things that could benefit the entire student body.  I know that UF is extremely well-regarded and have made many decisions that have increased its ranking and popularity over the years.  This current year, the acceptance rate was less than 25% over all and less than 10% for OOS.  It's so bizarre how people think think that simply getting rid of DEI (which I believe has gone completely overboard) is synonymous to racism/discrimination.[/quote]
