I highly recommend that you research whether or not this is a good program for your kid. There are two options (these are a bit simplified, but they are overall correct):
- If your kid gets 30 credits and has a 3.0 GPA at MC, they can gain admission as a transfer
- If your kid gets an AA degree at any MD community college, they are allowed to transfer to any USM school

My son already knows what major he wants, so she gave him a list of classes to take at MC in order to have a smooth transition.

My understanding is that kids at MC can take advantage of the UMD Rec Center and many other amenities on campus. I'm sure that the website has information, but I haven't looked (I already went to college and am not looking for another college experience, lol).

Since he won't have a car and public transportation would take 2 hours from College Park to UMBC, we're leaning heavily toward MC.
