Moscow is really nice - if you have been there is it truly the reverse of “paris syndrome”

But it is nice because it drains so much capital (human, financial, etc) from a continental sized country

as much as Americans complain about big cities sucking up all capital and young peeps and talent from flyover country, it is nothing like the scale of Moscow vs rest of Russia

When Russia first invaded Ukraine there was a lot of talk about how impoverished outlying parts of Russia are, as in no running water or electricity, [i]still[/i]. Moscow always looks beautiful in pictures but, yeah. It’s draining a lot from elsewhere that isn’t getting any of the good stuff. [/quote]

Yep - Moscow and St Petersburg, the cities for the elites.  The rest of Russia barely has paved roads or working sewers.[/quote]
