The Biden administration requested it in October. A majority of Senators and House members support providing the aid. Nevertheless, the House Speaker bent to the will of the MAGA minority and refused to consider aiding Ukraine without a border package.

Folks who see Ukraine aid as critical to national and world security went to work. They came up with a border deal. Trump and the MAGA minority killed it (despite support from the border patrol officers union) because they'd rather not do anything to strengthen the border.

The Senate went to work and passed an aid package that didn't include the border. "[Speaker] Johnson indicated he would not take it up, right about the same time that Trump renewed his attack on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that underpins U.S. and global security."

And now, rather than address the security bill, Speaker Johnson has recessed the House.
