There are other people in our community (in Montgomery County) who have done/are doing the same thing.

We didn't look at some of the other suggested schools partially because he's not going to be a STEM major and partially for religious reasons.

I'm very curious about this approach because I could see my son wanting to do something similar with UMD. I'm wondering how feasible it is to integrate into the campus at all this way in that first year though, if you're not joining studen my clubs, living in the dorms, taking classes on campus, etc?
