Some of the requested percentage increases seem unrealistic. I’m lucky if I get a 1% raise each year. And pension funding? Most companies are no longer offering pensions. And some are no longer offering health insurance or moving towards HMO type coverage with huge increases to deductibles.

These are negotiations.  You start with a more than you want, so that you have room to negotiate down to what you can afford.  No one ever comes to a negotiation, especially one that is creating a strike and presents their compromise offer first.[/quote]

Where are they today, what do they want and what is being offered? Then you can gauge if unreasonable.[/quote]
