[/quote] There is little to no "required mastery" to pass a student to the next grade. Teachers have to work VERY HARD to document why they believe a student should not be promoted. You have to jump through all sorts of hoops to retain a child, and it marks you as a bad teacher if you think a child should not be promoted -- better not try it too often![/quote]
