This is the procedure they are to follow. "VERBAL REPORT: All hate-bias incidents must be reported to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD)" https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/compliance/FY23_QUICK%20REFERENCE%20Hate%20Bias%20Procedures.pdf
It’s not a hate-bias incident.
Of course it is. Middle school kids know exactly what they are doing
It’s *obviously* not a crime. There is zero evidence of crime. You don’t report non-crimes to the police. False reports ARE crimes. This is a school discipline issue.
It doesn't have to be a crime. Read the linked document. It specifically says hate-bias incidents must be reported to the police. If you don't like that, feel free to submit testimony at the next BOE meeting.
Yeah I read that - that is why it’s so absurd. That was the whole point. And reporting a non-crime is not something I would do, principal or not. The other point is that the principal is certainly not reporting ALL “hate-bias” incidents. Just the ones by white kids. Falsely reporting someone to the police - I hope these kids parents sue MCPS and the school.
Please, explain how it is justified to report non-crimes to the police, in your world view.
How about the Montgomery County Police Department's world view? https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/pol/howdoI/report-a-hate-bias-incident.html
It says right there - there has to be an underlying crime. Words alone are not a crime even if “hateful.” Especially when they were never directed towards a protected class person. Come on people, this is basic stuff.
