Wow. Can I yell at my DH for refusing to register as a Dem and vote in the primary? He would have voted for Blair FWIW but is so stubborn about actually registering for a party (even though he almost always voted dem in the general). I just don’t understand why more MoCo voters don’t participate in the primary elections when that is the main contest!
I have been stating on here for a while now that Rs need to switch to D to vote in the primaries. Otherwise, your vote is a throwaway, and we may end up with an uber progressive.
Independents need to switch, too. 3 of my neighbors are Independent. I'm like, "That's a terrible move." They ONLY get to vote for the school board in the primary, not even the judges (which are on both the R and D primary ballots).
I'm an independent, and I loved my BOE-only ballot. There's no way I'm registering as an R or a D.
So you don't want ANY input on Governor? or County Executive??
I have input in the general election. The political parties can nominate who they choose. I'll vote for whichever candidate I feel would do a better job, regardless of their political party.
Mom is that you? Wake up already.
Not your mom. To each their own. I'm not sure why you so desperately want me to vote in political primaries when you have no idea which party or candidates I might prefer.
Because in MoCo the main contest is the primary. It’s just reality. When was the last time a republican was elected to local office? Half the time the republicans don’t even nominate anyone serious. As a PP noted, it’s quite easy to switch party affiliation in MD, it’s not binding you to the democrat party for life or forcing you to vote in every primary election, it’s just giving you a say. But whatever, do what you want. Just don’t complain about the Uber progressive council/CE for the next 4 years.
