At the middle school I work in (part time; I'm not on the clock yet  ) about a quarter of kids are wearing them properly, a quarter are without masks altogether, and half are wearing them ineffectively. I figure that last group are the ones whose parents say they have to wear them, and they reply with an exasperated "Okay, Mom" as they head out the door.
That third group is the funniest. My DS is a walker, and since I WFH, on rainy or cold days, I'll pick him up from school. Our neighbor is the same age, and his parents want him to mask at school. Countless times I've seen him come out of school, spot my car, and quickly dig into his backpack and put his mask on. Pretty funny. My DS told me that on normal days when they both walk home, he waits until they get to our corner and then puts it on his chin, to give the impression that he wore it all day and just pulled it down for the walk home. So far, sounds like he's fooling his parents
