Maybe your kid should’ve tried being a recruited athlete. Or maybe you should have gone to an Ivy League school. Or you should have made more money to donate to a school. All easier ways of getting into college, but sure let’s blame the URMs again. [/quote]

I hope your DC got into UVA or VA Tech. I think second-degree black belt in TKD and the other awards are impressive. Anyhow, URM applicants are not taking spots from someone else or are less qualified. I am guessing fewer apply so the same top schools are competing for the same students. There is an inordinate emphasis on sports and anyone who can play on a D1 team or popular school club sport will be on a list from the coach and will be considered separately.
