OP my elderly aunt in Europe I have not heard from in three years sent me a heart warning letter in her card. She apologized as used wrong address last year and year before sick. She gave me an update. She folks the joy it brings her to get the cards over years. Pictures of new house, my puppy, my three kids doing activities and the fact she gets to watch her nephew (now pretty old) like. She is last surviving aunt/uncle on her mother’s side. I know she has two 60 something sons who are not talking to her over an old issue over property she inherited they wanted to sell and she refused as was my uncles family farm in the family for generations. I sent card early enough she appreciated as time to use the address she lost to send me the lovely card. I guess that is why I deal with the folks who weaponize Xmas to ensure the lonely and alone at Xmas feel even more alone I made a 90 year old aunt happy. My wife is going to write her a note expressing thanks. It brightened our day too as Xmas was canceled for us with one sick child so no trip to NY. Glad to know that card brightened our Xmas and we cheered her up.
