Anyone know of any average students at mid tier or Low ranked comp sci schools, but able to get the right experience over time, land in any of these elite positions?
You have to be good at software engineering. Grades , after first job don’t matter. However, ability does. Communication skill helps some. I’m a software engineering mgr. some kids can produce amazing amounts of work. Others cannot. Some great resources from strayer. Sometimes shitty engineers at top 10 engineering schools. A great software engineer is 10x more efficient. If you want cash as your main objective, most mid skill plus can get it or job hop to get it. However, there’s a lot of shitty work out there. A lot of BS. 20 years in and I make 250k at a decent work balance. Do I want more $$$. Sure. Is it worth sacrificing my work / life for like 50-100k? I doubt it.
