Dec 15 is the referral deadline. When will they announce the pool? My child got above 132 in NNAT. Does that mean he is in pool?
They will send in-pool letters but not announce pool scores since it can differ by school now (this is per our AART). That said, the pool is the lowest of the school-based pool OR the county-wide pool. Above 132 on NNAT likely means in-pool.
I'm still confused by this new school-by-school cutoff. Does that mean that there will be two admissions, to LLIV and to the center? Or does that mean that any student admitted to Level IV can move from a "lower number cutoff" school to a "higher number cutoff" school (or the center school) and still be in AAP? They seem to be planning for the time when center schools go away entirely, but that hasn't happened yet and won't for at least the next few years, if not longer.
It's just about who is in-pool, that's all. That just determines who the school will ultimately make a packet for. The central committee will still review that packet (for now) and it will proceed as normal. It just slightly widens the net - and makes a little more work for 2nd grade teachers and AARTs - for who gets screened. There will not be 2 different admissions. Eventually they do plan on every IV being local, evaluated by a local committee, but not. If a kid from a lower cut-off school moves to a higher one (or they both wind up at the same middle school or something), the AAP designation stands.
