IIT is a collection of colleges, some are ranked higher, some are lower. The ones in question are not so highly ranked.

Doesn't matter.  You don't get to pick.  You are assigned the IIT based on your rank.   Regardless of how US news or others rank the various IITs, they are the top tech schools in India.  Most kids would rather go to the lowest ranked IIT over a non-IIT (but better ranked) tech school in India.[/quote]
