You NoVA folks have lost your minds. FCV and McLean still attract significant talent. Arlington is keeping its talent for the most part. BRYC is done. Metro United is done. VDA will produce a good team here and there but don't have the geographical pull to be anything other than a competitive club. The wildcards are Loudoun and GA. If FCV can't get into ECNL and GA dies, FCV has lost is pull. Loudoun will benefit. Arlington will return to feeding McLean. BRYC might recover it it manages with FCV.
As other PP stated, 05-03 is under an old order. The 06 teams and below is new era. VDA producing high quality teams in this age group (06/08s) as well as Loudoun. The only constant for all age groups seems to be Richmond United as they don't have to fight amongst themselves. The whole Arlington and FCV not being in ENCL is real and they'll rot on the vine.
The poster is a .......There is no old order and new order. Apply a higher level of thinking when it comes to deal with posters. NOVA cam absolutely field 4 NOVA teams. That’s not issue. It’s the 4 ECNL and 3 GA that allows for “watering down” The GA will die off. If they plucked FCV and Tophat for the east coast GA is dead in this area. FCV will not get ECNL. They will have to move. ECNL gave their spot Loudoun. They will not create a situation where they have to fight for the same pool. Whether you like it or not, Loudoun is the biggest pool in VA. If FCV shut down operations at Evergreen, which they may because they are owned by a group in Springfield, Loudoun will become a force. If FCV moved to BRYC, they would be 10 minutes from TSJ....who they are owned by. They then create a partnership and get back in ECNL will creating new customers for TSJ. How long do you think TSJ, who is dealing with the financial hardships from COVID, will allow their team to pay fees at evergreen versus pocketing the money? Arlington will reestablish a partnership with McLean.
So you’re telling me that the one thing keeping Loudoun from being a force is a girls soccer club that can barely manage two teams per age group?
1. Loudoun girls first issue is the arrogance that came with the huge player pool. 2. The way they treated parents and players 3. Losing every good player after U13 to FCV 4. Not having an elite platform 5. More arrogance and nepotism. 6. Too much parent involvement Loudoun, without a shadow of a doubt, COULD become the greatest force in NOVA. First, they wil have to create an environment that allows for it. If FCV moves to Springfield and Metros, who is not even a player but has some good players, falls out of favor with players because of the weakness of the GA, BRYC will strengthen. Same thing with Arlington that will strengthen McLean. Here’s what you will have. PWC - VDA Loudoun - Loudoun Western- Central Fairfax - BRYC Northern Fairfax and Arlington- McLean As soon a GA clubs except their demise, thing will get back to normal. It’s coming. Just a question how fast.
That doesn't mean any of those best GA players will flock to Loudoun. They haven't proven anything to top players and, frankly, assuming the GA demise, Loudoun will still not attract those players. What Will happen is McLean, VDA and BRYC will get stronger. The nepotism, arrogance that is Loudoun will be even worse without GA. I'm sorry, but Loudoun is not, and never will be a destination club with the current leadership. They are nothing more than the biggest Rec club in Virginia. Their money is made in rec and the lower travel teams. They are not incentivized to improve ECNL or change the way they are doing things.
Let’s get a few things straight. Kids don’t flock to Loudoun. Loudoun already has them. They don’t need to be a destination club. They need the ability to hold what they have. Let’s be crystal clear, it is FCV that needs Loudouns players. FCV does not have a pool. Think about that. Really really let that sink in. Zero pool. Truth be told, it’s Arlington l, Loudoun and VDA that should have ECNL and everyone else can go. Now, that’s not going to happen but that is where the true player pools are.
They don't need kids to flock to them? WOW, talk about arrogance. Good luck with that. You understand that kids flock to PDA, Top Hat etc. They do not rely on kids they selected at 8-9 years old and assume that's all they'll ever need.
1. I bet you have zero understanding how Tophat, PDA, Hawks, Solar, Surf, Stars, Courage, Texans, and other big name club you want to name works. 2. You twisted my words to make a stupid point without having understanding of the landscape. I said, and I stand by it, that Loudoun has the biggest player pool in Virginia. Once you accept that you will accept the fact that their issue isn’t about attracting players. It’s retaining players. 3. FCV issue is the opposite. They must attract players. Hence the non-stop marketing. The issue for them is two fold now. One is Loudoun has ECNL. The second is GA is dying and clubs that remain in it will find it hard to retain and attract talent. Clubs like FCV who rely of other club pools will struggle. For the record, we are not a Loudoun Soccer family and not personally a fan. However, I can easily see what’s in front of me.
You completely don't understand that Loudoun has squandered its player pool for years and will continue to do so. Loudoun seems to miss the point that a player pool is only half the equation. The other half is quality cohesive development across the entire club. There is no implemented style of play. There is no real coaching oversight. And all of this is fine for 95% of the players at the club, the ones who are on team B through Z. But they don't offer a true in club pathway and their ltop teams are stagnant through the years. They will never be a force because they will not do the hard work to become one, instead they just sit ck and cash their rec checks.
I 100 percent do Understand that. I agree wholeheartedly. Their arrogance has been their downfall. They have it too easy. They never had to work for it. My kid was a part of Loudoun very early on. I left and have never looked back. BUT, I’m no fool. They have the money, power and facilities, with an unlimited amount to kids in the most affluent county in the country. IF they revamped their girls side and show success, it’s over. Loudoun County, Western PWC, and Western Fairfax are the powerhouse regions in NOVA for girls soccer.
And as long as Loudoun leadership stays in tact it will never happen. Top talent will just head to VDA or McLean.
Perhaps.
