So I have a few friends in their 30s from visi and they are all similar to her though not her. One is Persian, from a wealthy family, she’s a doctor married to a lawyer. And two Indian girls who are siblings, one is a doctor, wealthy family where the parents work in world bank/diplomatic circles and inherited their wealth...Another is Indian and she and her mom are doctors and her mom is descended from royalty in India.
World bank and diplomatic circle people are poor unless you have inheritance. The salary is lower than 200k and benefits have declined greatly in recent years. It’s nowhere near the kind of money doctors/lawyers/tech people earn in this area. Sure you get some exposure to foreign cultures through posting overseas and some expat life perks, but back in DC, you are just a normal middle class. Speaking of someone working in this field...
Agree, I am a world bank staff, salary is similar to fed, Would say 120k to 200k net salary Range for the ~40 yo. Doesn’t climb very much past 200k for 95% of staff
