It is very unlikely the kids were alive in the car.  Chris noticed the smell but the kids were likely killed first.  They theorize he used Shannan's Oxycodone to knock them out before smothering.

Shannan probably never made it up the stairs. Probably never went to bed which is why she still had make up AND a bra on.  How many of us sleep with bras on?  I can't stand wearing a bra even when I'm awake.

In a later "last confession" he claimed he smothered the kids - and then they both woke up!  So he had to kill them "a second time" at the work site.  I mean he's just ridiculous.  He works to incorporate things that actually happened in with his lies and it all comes out an unbelievable mess.

I just can't figure out why he lies so much.  The whole world knows what he is, what he did and how awful he is.  Why does he still make up stories about what happened?  He's just nuts.

Oh ,man!  They woke up, that means they were supposed to live and have a second chance. He could have left them at home and just took the wife to the work site.  This wasn't well planned anyway and he would have been caught no matter what.[/quote]
