There are always going to be exceptions. He didn't say that every single Rep would take that approach.

For the last few years the main goal of Rep politicians has been harming Obama. (They have said this, not that they had to.) Helping the country is somewhere on their to-do list, but it's far below. It was similar but not as bad during the last Democratic presidency.

Presumably, not every Rep voter supports that approach, but enough do that they keep voting for these guys.

Why shouldn't we generalize about a class of people based on the people they elect? Sometimes it's useful to speak in generalities. The danger to avoid is assuming that it applies to every individual.[/quote]
