At u13 every girl who hoped to play in college from all over the DMV would head out to the closest two ECNL clubs for tryouts. This is how BSC and Mclean built their teams. Both clubs were not drawing with competition but now its back to the way it use to be. Some years the club would keep 1/4 of the u12 players sometimes 1/2. You would be surprised how far people will travel. It’s all part of having super elite teams/no other options = longer drives for practice, more cuts a u13, less options of coaches/style of play, less playing time, etc. ECNL is about winning at the age group.
