I haven’t read the entire thread but the timeline is a bit confusing to me. One thing I read said that first responders were in the scene within five minutes? Also Maeve and son were seen out in the bay struggling to get back to shore something like a half hour after leaving the dock? It just seems strange they couldn’t get someone out in the water to help them sooner.
This puzzles me, too. Someone apparently saw them playing kickball and knew that the ball went into the water (or else how would we know they were chasing a ball?), but why didn't that person call for help right away? Surely they would have seen them struggling to get back to shore.
Yes, it is very odd that no one in the family called for help or was even watching for them to return in the canoe. It was a stranger further down the coast who saw them struggling and sounded the alarm. Who was on the beach with the mom and little boy and knew they went in the water to get a ball? Surely not the other child? She wouldn't have left a child alone on the shore while she went into the canoe would she? I guess we will never know. RIP.
I’m guessing the dad was with the youngest inside the house. The mom told the daughter to go inside and tell the dad that her mom and brother were taking the canoe out to get a ball. So the dad continues taking care of the younger son and daughter. It’s not that unbelievable?
