COVID is going to highlight just how screwed up American sick policy can be. Many folks do not get sick leave or they have it in theory but are discouraged to call in sick. One of the worse industries? Restaurants. Another one? Healthcare. I work for a good health care system and can take PTO. But I know of many fellow nurses in the US who get penalized for calling in sick. We shouldn't blame workers for coming in to work sick; we need to start holding the higher ups accountable for their crap policies. [/quote]
