Curious why the uncertainties. Isn't mundo Verde a top charter?
There are lengthy posts here about opposition to the new school. Many think Mundo is growing too soon.
Current MV parent - they still haven't proven their concept works. The administration is unresponsive and uncommunicative to parents, the test scores are subpar - in the most recent PARCC testing, my child admitteed they haven't been taught much of what they are testing for. The kids do not receive grades, just binders with confusing rubrics so you can't actually assess their performance level, and there are not enoug special ed teachers for those in need. Oh, and they haven't figured out the DCI feeder school dilema. Need I go on?
So you are taking your child out for 19-20?
Yes, so I’m assuming you are leaving? Almost 50% students at MV scored 4 on PARCC in both ELA and math. I wouldn’t call those scores subpar at all.
This is what I dont get, if it really that bad, why is the student retention above 90% and the waitlist so long?
I think most parents only start to see the flaws in the upper grades and by then most stay because they want the DCI access and their kids have worked really hard to learn Spanish so the parents don't want their kids to leave for a non-bilingual school. Many parents have tutors which helps boost the scores for those with resources. Per the financial Q above, the school also told parents that they expanded because they got a big grant to pay for planning the expansion and the school needed that money.
