PS I’m sure players similar to Gabby would be turned down to your star supporting or bench player. Right!!
I said Christian would pick the players. FCV is always about grabbing talent. I just happen to think, based on head to head results that there are few players at Spirit Christian feels he has to have.
You are naive in that case. Plenty of cases where a superior team has players inferior to a team they have beaten, even if soundly. FCV is notorious for replacing their current players with outside talent. It would be no different in this case, even assuming Christian has the financial leverage here. He may not.
Christian will pick the best players. You are naive if you believe Spirit will out number FCV players. You are also naive if you don't think more BRYC, Arlington and McLean kids don't suddenly view FCV Spirit as a more appealing destination.
I get that you like to bash kids playing for Spirit, but there are some good players playing there. Hate to burst your bubble. Some of your coveted FCV players won’t make the squad next year if this happens. Maybe even your little Mia. Sorry to break the news to you. Pride comes before the fall
There are good kids at every club. There would be 36-40 kids competing for 18-20 spots. Some age groups may see significant Spirit influence and others will not. There will be kids, as stated above from other clubs a little more interested now. That concentrates things even more. Christian picking the kids means just that, he will want control and pick the kids. If more of them are Spirit so be it. If one team is heavy with McLean and BRYC defectors so be it, but make no mistake, Christian will pick the kids.
LOL—are you Christian? If Tom Torres retains his position, Tom will pick the players. Let’s see how it shakes out before making definitive statements on anything.
Christian is not putting his club on the line to hand over control to Tom Torres. You understand that right? If an agreement was reached between the two clubs Christian will want control of DA personnel decisions.
IF he were in a financial position to do that. That's called setting terms and you have no proof he has any leverage. Of course, the simplest explanation here is that Richie has the right to make his own pro team staff and that Christian naturally was someone he trusts and therefore was offered the spot. In other words, nothing to do with the DA, mergers, takeovers, or anything else. But I get that this forum doesn't care much for logic and reason.
He OWNS a successful DA! That is his leverage. So he took the job for some extra pocket money and to hang with Richie when he has a business he needs to run.
What makes you think the are financially in good shape? Why do they struggle for field space and have such a spotty youth and boys program? FCV isn’t Loudoun Soccer, not by a long shot. I think you give them way more credit than they deserve from an organizational perspective.
FCV struggles for field space because they are a profit company competing with prioritized non-profits for county field space. Loudoun Soccer holds a virtual monopoly on Loudoun County fields through parks and rec. This is the same reason why Spirit needs Pipeline, SAC and GF because they would be low on the county list for fields and they would pay much more money for the same fields than the non-profits do. And Spirit is a looong ways away from being any youth clubs sugar daddy.
Spirit was able to fill several thousand seats a game last year and upwards of 15k for the game at Audi. How many paying seats did FCV fill last year? That would be 0.
