Wakefield’s future demographics aren’t really a county wide concern. Seats for all students needs to be the priority.
Well, that much has been clear all along. But they also don't have the money to take from other projects to give your neighborhood what you're demanding. Seats are seats, so there is no need for a neighborhood boundary. If the crowding gets too bad at the other schools, people will take the option. It's not going to have equivalent amenities, so you probably don't want that to be your zoned anyway. It will wind up with some amenities, but probably just the bare minimum, like what they will have at HB. You want the full service experience? Gotta go to Wakefield. Do you really think Ashton Heights and Lyon Park are going to let you pull them into your boundary? If past is any predictor, you're going to wind up with the rest of 22204 in your boundary AND a neighborhood school without all the amenities.
There is no precedent of a neighborhood school that doesn’t fully serve its walkable community. Quit making stuff up.
It’s funny to me how people think the neighborhood will just take this all development with no amenities. The proposed high school violates so many zoning laws that this will be in litigation for years. We have lawyers, too, you know.
Exactly. Some idiots are now saying Fleet should be choice because of its location. Umm... no. Fleet only got built because it’s a neighborhood school. That area isn’t fvcking around ( not my neighborhood). It’s not comparable to the ed center. All of WL community wants to stay at that school. No one is willing to leave for either ytown or WF. They were willing to go through with NVD’s terrible idea, out of desperation. The neighborhood around CC is a totally different dynamic. They were savy enough to seek out Henry, and are OK with WF. They aren’t going to roll over on a bunch of BS construction with no benefit. They’ll make Glen Carlyn look like child’s play. We should spend the money once, and do it right. Arl tech isn’t getting the Interst they hoped. No duh. Build the 4th. If you live west of that pike work toward advocacy of balanced demographics. Or sell your house. Whatever.
