DP.  UVA was never the type of school where a sports championship was going to make a big difference in the school's appeal or selectivity.  It's a different story where schools like George Mason or UMBC are concerned. [/quote]

I think you have missed the point.  Most posters agree with you, and they’re pointing out the irony of one or two posters who in this thread a few pages/days ago were claiming UVA’s sports program will be boosting the school’s profile, makes it a better academic school, and will make it harder to get into for future applicants and that UVA would win the championship.  And now look what happened. UVA made history by losing in first round as not just a number 1 seed but the 1 seed out of all the 4 number ones.   [/quote]
