I don't get why the Great Falls nuts don't want the sale to go through. It will free up space at all the western high schools, so the glaring empty seats at Herndon won't be so obvious or so needed to be filled, so there would be l ess pressure to move those kids over to HHS. What am I missing?
That group has a very valid point re: lack of disclosure and process. Read their last paragraph again.
+1 And if a brand new, beautiful high school had suddenly been purchased in say, the McLean or Great Falls area with no disclosure or transparency, we all know exactly what kind of criticism and fallout would occur.
If there was a "new Rich People high school" bond and plan on the books for 15+ years? No one would be surprised.
As a reminder only $25 million had been bonded and earmarked for a new western HS. The other $125M had not been funded in a bond so they are going to have to defer other projects which to date haven’t been identified.
You aren’t allowed to ask questions! Just give them the $150 million, no questions asked.
Centreville expansion is funded at $300 million. it can be scaled back--not eliminated or deferred. It can go on schedule and still get expanded--just not to 3000 students.
And she’s back, pretending to have all the answers when the school board has given us none.
You do realize this is speculation based on readily available information? This is just an example of something that could easily be adapted. You seem to be averse to suggestions of how it could be paid for. KAA can ultimately help Centreville overcrowding. So, the need for a $300 million dollar expansion could be scaled back. Do you have a problem with that?
