I thought surely someone would have posted this by now. He really is losing it: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-indycar-race-washington-dc-streets-pennsylvania-avenue/ Trump wants to hold an Indy style car race in the streets of DC to commemorate the country's 250th anniversary. Speeds of up to 200 mph on Pennsylvania Avenue. God help the hapless citizen who tries to cross the street. They really are just letting him sit up all night and fantasize over his ballroom and now, his race. I bet he calls Blondi at all hours demanding that Obama be arrested too. There have been many Grand Prix races in cities. See the Famous Monaco Grand Prix. Vegas has had one recently. Chicago not too long along. It's a ton of work and money to pull it off, but it's an interesting concept. Your citizen crossing the street comment is pretty laughable. Not like they just turn the Indy cars loose and let it rip! His use of an Executive Order again is wrong and silly, but the overall idea of this is interesting. Indy Car and the likes of Roger Penske have the $$ to finance it.
Then just have the race in a city that is already set up for street racing. There are a lot of downsides - noise, pollution, street closures that impact residents and businesses, safety, damage, the likelihood that taxpayers will end up footing the bill - and it’s not great racing due to the lower speeds and fewer opportunities to overtake, which means not much change in the finishing order. This is just Trump’s 12 year old Xbox-addict advisers wanting something kewl for the 250th.
