I am a foreigner in US. What amazes me is how little I notice that the government shot down. Everything around is perfectly operating. Can someone tell me how this shutdown impact your day to day life (unless you are a federal employee)?
because they exempt so many jobs as mission critical that the public doesn't really notice. Shut down airports and the US mail and the federal ports, the blue shirts at the airports (TSA) etc and people will notice.
Why make it worse than it needs to be? Just shows the public only values a small part. We should eliminate the rest and pay off the debt.
It's not a small part. The large majority of feds are still working without pay, and that's why the general public doesn't notice the shutdown. If ATCs and TSA, SS workers who pay SS benefits, CMS workers who pay Medicare, USPS who deliver the mail, DoD employees who maintain military equipment, etc. didn't show up, the public would notice real fast. The pay of the remainder is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the debt. I can't believe people still don't understand this after the DOGE fraud.
