I don't think someone should get life in prison for shoplifting. But there should be a consequence. And they should keep track so that if someone is a repeat offender, then the consequences start increasing. It is just common sense. But this is not what Mamdani and Bragg want.

Not sure why I am wasting my time with you. I hope things are beautiful in your home in suburban DC or wherever you live that is not NYC.

Regarding CVS/Walgreen's - you clearly do not live in NYC. Do you see how much of their inventory is now locked up? You need someone to help you to get almost anything because they are constantly being robbed. How can you deny this?

Regarding Bragg, here is an article from CNN. This is not the NY Post which is full of exaggerated right wing garbage - I'm not dumb enough to fall for their extremist, scare-mongering garbage. This is CNN.

Following up on my own post. I was just at the CVS at 72nd and 2nd (see, I live in NY). A huge number of items were locked up. I needed one of them. I had to press a button and an employee came to help. Poor guy was super nice but exhausted. He is running all over the store helping people get locked items. I asked why. He said because people were shoplifting like crazy so this helps prevent that. There is still lots of shoplifting of unlocked items and they don't make much effort to stop them because they know nothing will be done - they have stopped the same people many times and they keep coming back.
