If you think you're safe based on performance and tenure or veteran status, think again. Look more at the focus of your office and how quickly the public would notice if that were gone. If you're a couple steps removed, even if your work is critical, you might be at risk. The public (veterans in your case) won't notice a difference immediately or they won't be able to tie a decrease in services to the RIF. [/quote]
