How advanced is your kid? I know of a few kids at BASIS who were grade skipped and entered 5th grade at a 4th grade age. Your kid needs to be ready to be serious about academics though. 5th grade is one of the best grades at BASIS but is an adjustment if your kid is not used to academics. I would call the school and have your kid evaluated independently re: possible grade skip I think.[/quote]

She regularly tests at two grades above at least.  As an example, she read Harry Potter in first grade and just had FUN doing square roots with me at home.  She read Nancy Drew in second grade, and is reading the BASIS 5th grade reading list this year (started with wonder) that a neighbor gave us.  I was a smart kid and she blows me out of the water.  She is shy/awkward, though, do I'm not sure if she is a candidate for shipping a grade but will ask BASIS about process to have her independently evaluated.  I know that my neighbor's 5th grader is doing classroom presentations and I'm just not sure if that's something she'd excel at.[/quote]
