I grew up in Louisville, KY. There was this old, abandoned hospital which was initially a Tuberculosis hospital and then turned Mental Health institution way back in the 40s. It's been abandoned for a long time. For fun (!) teen agers used to go up to the abandoned hospital and horse around - it is up on a big hill, surrounded by woods. It was a popular dare for us high schoolers to see if anyone could last all night up there. We would see things, specifically like a woman, who would appear randomly in the hallways, standing or sitting in a chair. We thought it was cool. For fun, we would slide down the chute that they sent dead bodies down (maybe a 45 degree angle) into the basement. Yeah - I know. Stupid teenagers. It was so dark, even in broad daylight, you had to have a bunch of flashlights. We'd go up on the roof and look out over the city. We always had to be mindful of cops, cause they would occasionally get word that teenagers were "up at the old hospital again". My dad would find flashlights in my room or the car, and be like - where did all these flashlights come from, and why the fuck do you need so many?! So a couple of years ago, I was visiting my dad (still in KY) and for some reason we started talking about my teenage years. I confessed to him about my adventures as a teenager, galavanting around Old Waverly Place. Low and behold - he was surprised as hell, because apparently some couple bought the place, and makes a killing on haunted tours at Halloween. They have a website and everything. This was all news to me. Us a kid, it was just an old, run down place to roam around and "play with ghosts" as we liked to say. http://therealwaverlyhills.com/newsite/ There's a picture on this website, of the exact woman we used to see. When I was at my day's he pulled up the website for me and as soon as I saw that picture, I flew back in my chair and threw his iPad out of lap (he was not happy about that, haha). That is the SAME woman we used to see. And we saw other stuff too. At the time, we teenagers thought maybe it was a play of light, or shadows... Scariest places on Earth (the tv show) went there, but couldn't last all night. They left in the middle of the night (only few of such places have they ever left in the middle of the night). I can't believe we slid down the incinerator shoot. And on the tour they give, they only take people to a certain part of the hospital. We went all over. For years. I could tell those people some stories and give a tour of a lifetime. You come inside that hospital with me, and it will make any non-believe in ghosts do a 180, I promise. When we were there, all the old equipment, rusty bed frames, old medical equipment, chairs, were all there...if on,y we had cell phones back then to take pics, lol.
OMG! You should do an ama. Finally one that I would be interested in.
