I may be alone on this one but I honestly felt bad for Sonja. She is a pure cokehead nut but I really saw her true self with Bethany. I had compassion for her. She is having an identity crisis and it didn't feel malicious or conniving for her to start a prosecco called Typsy Girl. Now it very well may have been. Shes a broken desperate woman, but in all truth Sonja is just a happy go lucky Sag and thays the only thing shes got going for her. I honestly felt bad for Sonja. I dont disagree with Bethanny but something about that meeting didnt sit right with me.
I felt sorry for Sonja but embarrassed for Bethenny. She's as much of a mess emotionally as Sonja is professionally. BF said she had no worries about Sonja as a business threat, which means she set up that meeting to inflict as much personal pain as possible. Doing it in front of her staff in their little one-room shop was tactless. She was never trying to be a mentor, she was trying to shame Sonja into the realization that she's a failure. And the insult Bethenny felt was that Sonja thought she could be in the same league. I can usually find a way to feel sorry for even the most villainous women in these shows but I don't think there's a way to do that with Bethenny. She's a stone cold bitch and it's not just for show.
Bethenny could have told Sonja that she was mad about the name privately, without her minions looking on, and not said all that mean stuff about her being a failure, etc. It was irrelevant. Bethenny has a right to be mad, but she is a terrible person.
I normally think that Bethenny overreacts, but I actually think she was on point here. The office is only one real room, so it's unclear if the "minions" had anywhere else to go. Plus, this is being filmed so Sonja's failures were going to be exposed in a public shaming anyways. Sonja also called Page Six about this business venture, so she really started the publicity tour of her new biz venture and left herself open to this criticism. In business, you have to be tough and ruthless and that's why Bethenny is so successful. Sonja started it by visibly copying Bethenny's brand and at first denying it and then copping to it by saying she needs to put food on the table. I actually think Bethenny handled it quite calmly and walked away before she really started to embarrass Sonja.
Yeah...no. I know each of these women has to sow conflict to stay relevant and interesting, but Bethenny set out to deliberately and thoroughly demean and humiliate Sonja. As she's said repeatedly, it wasn't in the interest of protecting her brand, it was entirely personal. Carrying the rant forward into Dorinda's party was ruthlessness without purpose. But then again, the show is part of her income and she has no reason to be around any of these women except to cut them down. Maybe it's her therapy. She definitely needs some.
