Some kids take off with reading in preK and it clicks with them, it does not make them an "advanced learner" or gifted. This is why I hate tracking programs that begin before third grade. Learning to read is a developmental step. And it is just one part of a greater picture. So many parents of kindergartners want special treatment for a reading child. It is ridiculous. Your child is reading. They can read at school or at home. [/quote]
