Ummm, that's what the charities want you to do.  Unless you are taking part in a walk/ride/race where peer to peer fundraising is part of the deal, they don't actually expect you to solicit your neighbors.  They want you to decide you are too busy to do that, feel guilty about that decision, and then write a check yourself out of guilt.  So stop asking others, just write the check and feel good about your gift.
