There is high demand for ICE agents because previous administrations have been lax in administering immigration law, especially under Obama and Biden. There is low supply of ICE agents because Democrats are against enforcing immigration law, and have been demonizing the agency.
Why do you assume the "supply" of ICE agents is "low"? According to Homeland Security, ICE has hired over 12,000 new officers and agents since 1/26, effectively doubling its workforce from 10,000 to approximately 22,000 in less than a year. This surge was fueled by more than 220,000 applications received during a massive nationwide recruitment campaign. There's obviously plenty of interest in these jobs if there are 220,000+ applications. The quality and training of those officers is another story. PS. I'm sure there are enough MAGA and/or financially needy folks willing to do these jobs that potential stigma will not be a deterrent. After all, there are over 340 million people in this country.
The supply is lower than it would be because of Democrats' demonizing the agency and its mission.
