I think attendance will be way lower than anticipated. But I don’t think it will be due to a boycott, per se. I think brown people will actually be afraid to come here. No fans are more committed than soccer fans, but they have their limits. And they would be much safer catching a match in Canada or Mexico. I have been watching hotel rates, just out of curiosity. They are starting to come down and plenty of rooms available.
They are going to fly into Mexico with the angry cartel guys looking to cause problems? They have shoulder fired heat seeking missiles, a lot more dangerous than whatever city has ICE raids.
I think you are underestimating how dangerous the US is right now. Maybe the WC low attendance rates will be a wake-up call for a lot of Americans.
I’m sorry you have an anxiety disorder. Have you considered seeking treatment?
Did you vote for trump......because I hope you are seeking help for whatever delusions and psychosis you are clearly dealing with.
I didn’t vote for Trump. I apparently understand the draw of the World Cup better than posters here that hope it fails because, Trump.
NP. I have several football fanatics in my family and friends circle (I'm brown). None are planning to go to any matches although some live in cities where matches are held. They say no match is worth the risk of potentially being tossed in some detention facility or deported, although they are all in the country legally, just POC. Same goes for family overseas that were planning to come for the World Cup, but don't consider it worthwhile making the trip (even before the war).
+1 I have family in Europe who were planning to come and have canceled. Of course they did. Who would want to come to the US right now?
