Since there are only four “Power” conferences, this has the effect of guaranteeing that there will always be at least one non-power conference champion, but there could be more. This year JMU and Tulane were ranked higher than the ACC champion, Duke. Therefore the ACC champion did not get spot. Notre Dame would have gotten an at-large spot but the Committee have it to Miami (who didn’t play in the ACC championship game) instead.[/quote]
