Research continues to show that casinos have no or negligible impacts on crime: https://nij.ojp.gov/library/publications/does-presence-casinos-increase-crime-examination-casino-and-control https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0166046217300169 https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/07/140717114935.htm https://www.researchgate.net/publication/343820663_Casino_Gambling_Impacts_on_Crime_and_Public_Safety_A_Review_of_30_Years_of_Research
Have you ever been to one? or is this the pro-casino lobbyist
Have I been to a casino? Of course. We had native-run casinos in Minnesota where I grew up. Been to Vegas and New Orleans. I'm not a regular gambler, though I might pop in to play a couple quick rounds of keno if there was a show that I'd be going to. A casino is just an entertainment venue. I'm not sure why everyone thinks that you build a nice casino/hotel/venue in a place and it turns into Atlantic City. There aren't going to be prostitutes walking around Tyson's. If the argument is that we shouldn't promote gambling because it is an addictive vice, I understand that, but I'm not sure where you draw the line versus other ones. If your argument is that Tyson's will go to hell if someone builds a casino/hotel, that's not an informed opinion.
You have it the wrong way round- only places that are desperate usually want casinos built, because they are desperate for any jobs and for any tourism money coming in. So you are saying that Tysons is in the same economic straits as West Virginia, PG County, Norfolk VA area or Danville VA? Why does Tysons "need" a casino? Aren't there enough traffic and jobs there? I found the casinos I have been too, New Orleans for example, to be super depressing. Filled with older smokers playing slot machines. That's the entertainment you want for younger people in NoVa?
