We are stuck with Mamdani. Cuomo and/or Adams have too many fatal flaws to put together a majority. Get ready for a bumpy ride. Here is a summary of his positions on some major issues - he seems very casual about quality of life crimes, dealing with the mentally ill, fare evasion, etc. Those who clearly cannot take care of themselves should be removed from the streets for their own good. And repeat offenders of minor law violations should be aggressively prosecuted. Full stop. And the rent freezes are horrible policy. Have rent increases pegged to social security COLAs or another index. https://www.thecity.nyc/2025/06/25/every-question-zohran-mamdani-meet-your-mayor-answer/
All of what you listed above is the reason I would never vote for him. But alas, he's going to be mayor.
That's the problem. The people voting for him have no idea what he stands for or what he has done. Some people like rent freezes (which are a horrible idea). Other than that they have no clue. But he is young, energetic, charismatic and doesn't have Cuomo and Adams' baggage. Kudos to him for capitalizing on that. But he is not qualified to be mayor at all. Hopefully he will rise to the occasion. Lander is not great either though at least he has some experience. What he did with the schools in Brooklyn is awful.
You are missing that many people who support him are willing to try anything (even if it doesn’t succeed) and are sick of the status quo. Same reason Trump was elected and say gains in 2024.
Yup. And electing Trump has worked out really well. Do these people learn? People whine about how bad their lives are and don't realize how good they actually have it. It shows how bad our educational system is. And I don't think it will get any better under Mamdani.
