I also believe that "that ship has sailed" regarding who has a right to what in Israel. However, I find the existence and growth of the settlements in the West Bank to be very very problematic, and then there's of course, Gaza. Most of us understand that Israel needs to take care of its security threats but let the borders be and treat the Palestinians more humanely.
Why would they treat Palestinians more humanely now when they haven't done so for almost a century? The only pushback they've gotten from committing a genocide is just some stern warnings. There's no reason to change behavior.
I think it is disingenuous to present Palestinians as victims. They have had a long history of attacking Israel. Some of those terrorist attacks were brutal. This is the problem, the back and forth. I’m one of those people who believes there will never be peace between these two factions. There is too much history.
Would you say the same about the Holocaust? The Palestinians were forced from their lands and made refuges. Now Israel is implementing the final solution on the Palestinians. If Israel had made a a reasonable deal 40 years ago Palestinians and Jews would be living in Israel as equals citizens. This is all on the Israeli. Israel killed more Palestinians year to date in 2023 vs the number of Jews killed in Israel in Oct7. Saying it is both side is ridiculous
Is it your impression that 40 years ago, what Palestinians wanted was to live in Israel as equal citizens? Because that is absolutely incorrect. They wanted the whole land, free of Jews. Can you name a single Muslim-majority country in the world (there are approximately 50) where Jews live as equal citizens? Why do you think Palestinians of all people would prove the exception? They harbor a deep genocidal hatred toward Jews/Israelis - and I’m taking the vast majority of Palestinian civilians, not just their governments.
