You have it backwards. Religion teaches you that everything matters. It is atheism which ultimately means nothing matters. [/quote]

Life, time on this earth, time with loved ones, doing good in the world we live in, being a good human being...all of those things mean MORE to me now that I'm an atheist. Don't presume to talk about what atheism means.  you are wrong. It only means I don't believe in a god. 
If there was a proof that the christian god of the Bible existed, I would cease to be an atheist. But I would never worship that god. Ever. [/quote]
