Was there an event at Arlington that required the fly over?
T-38s are training planes. So some 23 year old was going way too fast and too low in one of the most problematic civilian-heavy traffic spaces in the country. Absolute BS.
It was FOUR T-38s doing a flyover at Arlington Cemetery.
On Friday, Delta Air Lines Flight 2983 was cleared for takeoff at the Reagan airport at about 3.15pm, at the same time four US air force T-38 Talon aircraft were inbound, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement. The jets were heading for a flyover of Arlington National Cemetery when the Delta aircraft received an onboard alert of a nearby aircraft. Air traffic controllers “issued corrective instructions to both aircraft”, according to the FAA, which intends to investigate.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/29/close-call-between-delta-plane-and-military-craft-at-reagan-national-airport
This is so dumb. Sorry, but we don’t need flyovers at Arlington. They already do the cannon salute. If one of those flyovers runs into a commercial airliner, all you do is traumatize the family of the veteran/soldier being interred at ANC plus at least 100 other traumatized families. Who was being laid rest that necessitated a flyover?
