I would like the American people to learn the hard way all of the things they get for their tax dollars. Which is actually being generous since a lot of MAGA doesn't even pay taxes.
MAGA and I paid nearly 400k in taxes last year and will pay more this year. I don't feel like I get 400k worth of services from the government.
what services do you expect to be getting for those tax dollars at that income? do you understand the purpose of government? do you ever travel by plane? drive on an interstate highway? have a passport? enjoy relative peace and security? eat food you didn’t grow? put money in a bank? relatedly, did you struggle to share growing up? do you have some sort of deficiency where you are capable of feeling empathy or kindness towards others? oh and I assume if you fall on your butt and stop earning close to a million dollars a year, I assume then you have no plans of using any government assistance
Isn't the family/individual paying $100K also getting same services?
You’re paying for stability and safety for all people. Otherwise you end up living in a guarded compound and worry about your kids getting kidnapped on way to school. National defense too — you have way more to lose so insurance cost is higher.
This is what I don't get. I have lived in several countries where that is the reality, because the government is so weak/corrupt that it cannot offer basic services (like sanitation! or regular electricity!) or any security. So society is heavily stratified, unstable, and dangerous. Crime and violence is everywhere. The wealthiest hire their own guard and live in mini-compounds and are driven everywhere. They leave the country for medical care, and send their kids for schooling abroad. If a family is not super wealthy, they do everything possible to educate their kids and get them out of there. The ultra-wealthy do pretty well in that type of society, and literally everyone else loses.
