And if you are retirement eligible you get no severance. I don’t even have a particularly long tenure but I’d get 28 weeks with a RIF - as a lump sum instead of contingent on anything. And I could look freely for any new job - which is really a massive issue since I would be trying to find something in the same industry that would almost certainly not be permitted under ethics rules.
