I have seen the video and while it shows a stomp of the foot it does not show any contact with the students foot. As for the grabbing of the hood, the child is not yanked or comes off his feet he is just guided to his seat. We need to stop crucifying this guy. He was acquitted and cleared to return to work by MCPS. There is no history of complaints on him according to MCPS. Interesting that parents are now saying things happened 5-15 years ago. This all needs to stop and let the guy return to work.
Until the video is made public I just don't buy what people post here. There is clearly a coordinated and deceptive campaign to defend him. The news reports describing the video are pretty damning. I don't know wtf you are.
There are teachers on this thread who have worked with Andrew who are telling you what a strong leader he is and how much he cares about kids. It says a lot about YOU that you are only running with negative comments. In my personal experience working with him as a teacher, he really encouraged excellence among staff and students, and tbh, I think that is why people don't like him and want to see him crucified. He asks people to rise to the occasion for the benefit of kids, and people complained. This is coming from someone who worked with him for several years. I have also worked for several other principals who actually ARE bullies, but their names never get mentioned.
There are also teachers on this thread telling you he is short tempered, inappropriate with students , and has been observed to sexually harass female staff. When their comments were made, other posters said those teachers couldn’t be validated because it’s an anonymous forum. But when “teachers” come and say positive things , suddenly they are credible. How ridiculous and hypocritical
Yes, the difference here is I actually worked with many of the teachers who say negative things about him. I hate to say this about the other teachers because they are really nice people, but they did not have the best of interest of kids at the forefront and that is why they often got upset with him. They wanted to do things that were best for them as teachers, or easier for them as teachers when that is not what the job is about. It is about kids. I can name at least 15 teachers who were like this towards him. I would post this publicly on another platform but worried about those teachers are the biggest "Karens" and would make life hard for me, as they did when I worked in schools with them. If you are a parent in the RCV cluster and are concerned about if Mr.Winter has the best interest of kids at heart, give him a chance and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I am really sad to see this vitriol toward someone who has dedicated their life to Montgomery County community, was acquitted of any wrongdoing, and is coming back to work in schools despite the disparaging comments. This is someone who cares about education and children. Maybe you all will be happy when there are no more teachers and admins left to take this vitriol. Lots are leaving, and you'll see how good you had it.
I agree with this as I worked with Mr. Winter too. There were definitely staff that would do anything they could to argue, debate, and ultimately try to undermine his efforts for the school. He does truly care about students and has devoted his career to MCPS. He collaborated more with staff than any principal I have had in my career. He deserves better than this uncalled and unfair public humiliation. I believe RCV needs to give him a chance. He's been through a lot and knowing him he's different than who he was before COVID, before the accusation at his school, and really deserves a chance. MCPS would not have allowed him back if he had been convicted or if it was clear of significant wrong doing from their due process. Please stop persecuting him and let him work!
His actions to a child were not ok. Everyone can lose their cool at times but he needs to learn to walk away and not take it out on kids, especially those with special needs. He needs to land in central office.
