Our neighbor has a kid who is miserable at Brown, wants to transfer. A friend of my DS who does not know this kid is very happy at Brown. We know happy Penn and CMU kids, though I am sure there are unhappy ones. We knew a kid miserable at W&L , transferred to Vandy and loved it, and we have known some who hate it. None of this is the schools, it is the individual plus the element of expectation vs reality of college, especially competitive ones.
Yes. This. My kid is very happy at Chicago.
Same! My DD is a 1st year at UChicago and is so happy. She has challenging classes and loves the other students. It probably also helps that she has been dating the sweetest young man since early November. UChicago emphasized a few times during orientation how kind the class of 2028 is. I thought it was just a line, but my DD feels like it is really the personality of the class.
